]]>I'm always looking to find a different point of view when photographing places that have been photographed over and over again although my guess is quite a few people have captured Miners Castle from this perspective. One leg of my tripod was hanging off the cliff which rises 200 feet above Lake Superior. The spot I am standing on is undercut from erosion so it's kind of scary. Definitely have to be very cautious .

]]>it's quite an adventure getting to this remote waterfall located in the rock river wilderness, Hiawatha National Forest. We drove five miles in on an old two track , parked and walked additional 1.5 miles or so on an unmarked trail. I have been to dozens of waterfalls in Michigan, but this was our first time to this particular falls . This falls is not huge but is now on my top five favorite Michigan waterfall list. After I photographed the falls I climbed up in them and enjoyed a refreshing shower. It didn't look like anyone had been there in awhile.

]]>This photo is a little deceiving I had to walk up the beach backwards because the wind was blowing so hard the sand was like needles in my face. It was blowing parallel with the shore gusting at least 60mph.

The morning sun was just peaking over the dune behind Point Betsie.

]]>t's quite an adventure getting to this remote waterfall located in the rock river wilderness, Hiawatha National Forest. We drove five miles in on an old two track , parked and walked additional 1.5 miles or so on an unmarked trail. I have been to dozens of waterfalls in Michigan, but this was our first time to this particular falls . This falls is not huge but is now on my top five favorite Michigan waterfall list. After I photographed the falls I climbed up in them and enjoyed a refreshing shower. It didn't look like anyone had been there in awhile.

]]>It's interesting seeing the trees along the Pictured Rocks shoreline that are just hanging on at the very edge of the cliffs. There roots seem to stretch back anchoring them into the soil, like the birch tree seen in this photo.

Lake Michigan

The Grand Haven Breakwater lighthouse is located in the harbor of Grand Haven, Michigan.

Grand Haven Lighthouses are two different lighthouses on the south pier of the channel where Grand River comes in to Lake Michigan. A lighthouse was first established there in 1839.[1] Both lighthouses were put up for sale in 2009 under the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act.[2]

]]>One of the prettiest spots along Pictured Rocks is Miners Castle. Years ago we used to sit out on those turrets , it is not allowed anymore. A few years back one of the turrets broke off and crashed into Lake Superior almost capsizing a fishing boat.

]]>It was 6 degrees outside with a cold North wind off the Lake when I took this photo of 40 Mile Point Lighthouse. The whole front of my Nikon was frosted but it performed flawlessly. (The furnace exhaust coming out from the foundation of the Lighthouse worked very well to thaw my hands!! ) This Lighthouse structure models the Big Bay lighthouse which was being constructed simultaneously near Marquette in the Upper Peninsula. 40 Mile Point is a two-story duplex with a tower incorporated into the center of the side-wall facing Lake Huron.
