It was 6 degrees outside with a cold North wind off the Lake when I took this photo of 40 Mile Point Lighthouse. The whole front of my Nikon was frosted but it performed flawlessly. (The furnace exhaust coming out from the foundation of the Lighthouse worked very well to thaw my hands!! ) This Lighthouse structure models the Big Bay lighthouse which was being constructed simultaneously near Marquette in the Upper Peninsula. 40 Mile Point is a two-story duplex with a tower incorporated into the center of the side-wall facing Lake Huron.
